Today I learned a new acronym–AQI. It stands for Australian Quizzical Intonation and the TV presenters I work with have started adopting it.<\/p>\n
What is it? Well, it sounds like they’re about to ask a question or continue with a thought but they actually stop in what seems like midsentence on an upward cadence. Apparently it’s very popular with British kids.<\/p>\n
I can’t figure out a better way to explain this in print except maybe if you try reading this with a faux-Aussie accent, you’ll get the idea? Just read these sentences as if they were questions? And maybe you’ll see what I mean?<\/p>\n
